It's happening! They're growing!

I'm normally an impatient person at the best of times. Throw in something like my own plantings and yesterday couldn't have happened quickly enough. Buying plants and putting them in containers- well, I may have gotten a little carried away with that. It's a little addictive, you see, seeing one container growing enough I remember what I planted in there. So much so that a tough day at work called for more plants to be bought and containered.

Because I'm fairly limited in what I can buy (mostly annuals, not perennials), my heart broke a little when I had to admit that buying that a Diamonds Blue delphinium wasn't the best idea. But the colour was gorgeous! The only other plant that produced a flower so blue was...also a delphinium, a King Arthur delphinium. The closest annuals comparison? Victoria blue salvia, which is more purple than blue. I'm positively crushed. I also couldn't afford my Black Mondo grass and had to get garlic chives instead; Artemesia was substituted with Dusty Miller; and the rest filled out with red/gold marigolds, red verbenas, and veined white petunias. The last one in particular is really stunning, and here's a picture of all the best that's flowered so far:
