'Tis the season for- achoo!

I am allergic to everything outside. Pollen, trees, dust, bugs, grass- you name it, my body hates it, to varying degrees. But in all the years my immune system has gone haywire over the seasons, it's never been more than an afterthought until this spring. Now, I start my mornings sneezing, endure the middle of the day with a stuffed up nose, and go to bed with my head feeling like it's in a vise. Particularly worse is working at a garden store where I'm around my allergens all the time. Drug companies really ought to make me an honorary member of the board or something.

The last couple of days have been really sucky and I don't even need to look at the Weather Network to find out why. My sinuses have been on super high alert, closing up shop at the merest mention of the words "grass" or "tree". I've been popping Advils and allergy pills like a fat kid in an M&M store but it's no use. Ever had a sinus headache that's lasted three days? It feels like being hungover all the time. I feel incredibly draggy; my head throbs if I do anything silly, like bend down to put my shoes on or pick up something off the floor; and I can only breathe through one side of my nose. The suckiest part is life still goes on and I can't just sleep the days away. Nope, I have to face the world, puffy eyes and all.

Today's been a good day of sorts. My head only feels mildly squeezy, enough so that I can (sort of) ignore it and carry on, and my energy level is at about the halfway mark- or what most people's maximum is. I never thought I'd be saying this, but where's winter? As cold and long as winter is, at least the air is crisp and free of, well, everything.

Sigh. Only four months to go.
