Vive la super awesome Montreal

Although

I'm glad to have experienced more than one sleeping location in the same trip, I've gotta say, the hotel I'm in right now sure beats the pants off the one I was in before. That one was awful. I had to cross the hallway to reach the bathroom, the walls were painted Pepto Bismol-pink, all most of the lights didn't work, and I had to prop open the window with a fold-up chair. The room...well, quality-wise, it sucked, but because it was entirely my own, it was a net-neutral result.

But

this one? Well, I'm loving this one! I've got myself pot lights over the bed, a breakfast nook, a third-floor view to the hospital on the other side of the street (you wouldn't believe the kind of entertainment a hospital provides, and at all hours, too!), a tub in the room, and a live plant, no plastic tomfoolery.

It's also right smack downtown, which is great for getting around, and super close to a Greek food place that serves huge portions of spaghetti.

As

with all (read: two) trips to la belle province, a game I enjoy playing is "Can I get Quebeckers to think I can speak French?". Last night, I won round 3 against a hapless Metro grocery store employee. Good news for me. But the bad news is I ended up paying $0.05 for a plastic bag I didn't need.

Tomorrow,

I am determined to find smoked meat and bagels and coffee. Well, maybe not bagels as I'm not particularly fond of them. But coffee, yes. And more walks. I took one today before finding my spaghetti place, and the apartments are the most charming I've seen other than London and Paris. Steep walkup stairs leading to narrow, artsy apartments, with balconies constructed of curved wrought iron. Je suis enchanté!

Et bonne nuit.
