Day 1: Lukla to Manju

Bear with me, because I didn't transcribe each day as soon as it was over and events bled into one another.

After a day's delay, I finally choppered into Lukla and met the porter-guide, Pradeep. This was a Saturday, a holy day in Nepal, where much is closed (think Sunday in the western world). The plan was to trek from Lukla to Tengboche, home of the famed monastery where the Dalai Lama once prayed, but it was not to be. Instead, the end point was Manju, the major village just before Namche.

The walk overall was pretty easy and over level terrain, keeping us around 9,000ft. This led me to (falsely) believe the rest of the trek would be just as simple and enjoyable.

HAH!

What a fool I was.
