Coding Bootcamp: Day 10

Page Title

Week Two: Day 10

I've missed a few days because I've had to work (and still couldn't get everything done) in between classes, and I've barely been home to sleep. Those who know me know I hate cooking, but one nice (??) side effect of having to put just about everything on hold for these nine weeks is I've taken up cooking. And by "taking up cooking", I mean I've added pasta and kale salads to my repertoire of smoked-oysters-on-Triscuit-crackers. But in a way, it is kinda nice to just be able to grab a plastic container from the fridge, stuff it in my backpack and jet off...and I try not to think about what a meal made by someone else would taste like instead.

In terms of class, things are slowly starting to come together. Whereas in the first week I felt like I was in a pitch-black room full of unknown objects I tried to feel for recognition, now I'm starting to be able to relate these object's properties to the outside world. Much of it still doesn't make sense and I'm constantly referring to a figurative dictionary to understand what I'm doing, but at least now I'm sort of poking around in the right direction. That's maybe, oh, I dunno, 10 or 20% of the time; the rest, I just sort of throw things at the wall and hope something sticks.

One of the TAs was helping me with a class assignment today. She was walking me through it line-by-line, asking me questions, and I was so lost, I felt like the mom from Amy Schumer Mom Computer Therapy: "I knew yesterday, but I don't know today."

But then, near the end of the day, about a dozen pizza boxes magically appeared on a table. Manna from the heavens!
