Why does being ill never fall in line with those days where you have absolutely nothing to do?

I had yesterday off from work and was looking forward to a day of writing, taking it easy, and then heading off to the second day of the Lakeshorts Film Festival...and it was all scuttled by a bout of food poisoning first thing in the morning. All day, I thought if I just took it easy enough, I could pull myself together to head out for a couple of hours in the evening but when mid afternoon came and thoughts of wearing a hat instead of styling my hair crossed my mind, I knew it would probably be better to just stay at home. That, and walking the triangle between my bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen were one thing; trekking to the bus stop and being on jolty, shuddery buses and subways was another altogether. So, it was my bed and Netflix for the night.

On the other hand, my Maple Leafs won on the road AND Kessel scored a goal. This, considering the Blueshirts had only won something like five of the last twenty-two meetings with the Bruins and Kessel scored the fewest of his points against his old team than any other team he'd played against (proportionally speaking), was one bright spot in the evening.

I've also reached that point where I've been working so much at the plant store that I can't get my hands spotlessly clean of dirt anymore. No matter how short I cut my nails or how hard I scrub my fingers, I still look a gardener. Or maybe a farmer, considering the tan lines on my arms.

Now I've got to find some Herculean way of catching up on everything I didn't do yesterday. Sigh.
